About Moraya

mora (Latin, "a moment") + ya (Chinese, "elegance") = Moraya

The Story

Moraya was born from a simple belief: writing tools should be invisible. When you sit down to write, the editor should disappear, leaving only your thoughts and words.

We built Moraya because we wanted a Markdown editor that renders instantly as you type — no split panes, no preview buttons, no context switching. Just you and your words, in a moment of elegance.

Built with Rust and Tauri, Moraya achieves what Electron-based editors cannot: a native application that installs in seconds, launches instantly, and uses minimal system resources. The entire installer is under 3MB.

Design Principles

  1. Minimalism — Remove everything unnecessary. Every pixel should earn its place.
  2. Speed — Instant feedback, no lag. Writing should feel like pen on paper.
  3. Native — Feels like it belongs on your OS. Native menus, shortcuts, and integrations.
  4. Open — Open source code, open file formats, open protocols. Your writing belongs to you.
